The Court publishes a
brochure which explains the initial steps after a death is reported to the Coroner.
Annual reports into deaths in custody are written by the State Coroner, who must investigate all deaths which occur while individuals are in police custody.
Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (the GIPA Act) requires business centres of the NSW Department of Attorney General and Justice, including the Coroner's Court, to publish 'open access information' on their websites unless there is an overriding public interest against disclosing this information. Open access information includes policy documents and documents that are tabled in Parliament.
